Your books stay in your name
LedgerWorks keeps your books inside your own QuickBooks Online or Xero file, so the records are yours from the first day. That matters. In December 2024 a large bookkeeping startup shut down with almost no notice, and thousands of businesses had days to download their own records. With us there is nothing to download: if you ever leave, we simply remove our logins. Each of us has our own encrypted login, and you can see who has access and remove it anytime. It is always the same small team. Ariel Picillo founded the firm and reviews the work. Maria Balmes, Gabriela Asfora and Ahmed Gamgoum are the senior accountants who close your month. Ellie Cohen runs back-office support and Abe Tennenbaum leads sales. Software does the data entry, and a person checks every number before the month is closed. Ask us who would keep your books.

What clients say
A few of the companies whose books we keep
Lenny B.Logistics company
“Ariel and his team stepped in seamlessly and filled the void.”
“The LedgerWorks team functions as our outsourced finance department and they are wonderful to deal with. We were nervous when we had to let our full-time controller go, but Ariel and his team stepped in seamlessly and filled the void.”
Questions from first calls
Don't see yours? Ask us directly.
Can't I just do my own books in QuickBooks?
You can, and plenty of founders and owners start that way. The trouble usually shows up later: a missed reconciliation, sales tax filed on the wrong numbers, or months of catch-up when a lender or investor asks for statements. We take it over so your hours go back into the business, and you still see every entry in your own file.
How much does outsourced bookkeeping cost compared with hiring?
Each quote is a fixed monthly fee based on your volume and the services you choose. It will cost less than the salary of an equivalent in-house hire, and you'll have the number within 24 hours of a 15-minute call.
What happens to our data if we stop working together?
Nothing moves. Your books live in your own QuickBooks Online or Xero account, so you keep full access and every year of history. We simply remove our logins.
Our books are months behind. Can you still help?
Yes. We start with a catch-up to bring the books current, then move you to the regular monthly close. The catch-up can be included in your monthly fee or quoted separately, so you know the cost up front.
Do you use AI? Is a person checking the work?
We use automation for repetitive work like pulling in receipts and suggesting categories. A LedgerWorks accountant reviews every account before the month is closed, and a person answers when you call or email.
Do you file our taxes?
We file sales tax returns in the US and Canada, and prepare financial statements and tax-ready books for year-end. If you already have an outside CPA for your corporate return, we work with them and hand over clean books.
We already have a bookkeeper. Can you work alongside them?
Yes. We can take specific pieces, like payroll, year-end or the manual tasks that eat up an in-house person's week, for less than adding another full-time hire.
Is our financial data secure?
Each person on your account has their own encrypted login, a small dedicated team works on your file, and we only use vetted cloud accounting software. You can review or remove our access at any time.
Do you work with US and Canadian businesses?
Yes. We're fully remote and work with businesses across the United States and Canada, including companies with entities in both countries.
Our industry isn't listed. Can you still help?
Very likely. Our team has worked across many industries, and we learn how your business makes money before we touch the books.
